Your Gut Connection

With the increasing understanding of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) as a cause of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms, many potential therapies have been proposed to tackle the condition. These include a low FODMAPS diet, specific carbohydrate diet, and antibiotic therapy. These solutions, while they may be effective, are only short-term bandaid solutions and don’t address the cause of the illness. Dr. Angie Sadeghi, along with dieticians, James and Dahlia Marin, developed a completely plant-based protocol called “Your Gut Connection,” which focuses on building the gut microbiome over the course of 6 phases. Not only does the protocol remove problem foods, but it slowly introduces whole plant foods that will feed the gut microbiome and lead to a gut that can happily digest all the fibre that comes with a healthy diet. I believe “Your Gut Connection” is the best program out there for improving and maintaining long-term gut health.

80/20 Plants

The transition to a plant-based diet can be difficult if done overnight, so Julia Murray, who’s a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Olympian, founded this program to help others make the switch or just include more healthy plant foods in their diet. It works on changing one meal at a time, beginning with breakfast and eventually moving through the entire menu, including tips for eating out. It is entirely self-paced and they provide support at every stage along the way. If you’re interested in making the transition, but need some help, or if you’d just like to learn how to incorporate some more plants into your diet, this is a great program to consider.
