On January 14th 2023, famous UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, shared a graph suggesting that the government is recommending replacing steak with lucky charms. This then exploded into hysteria across social media with many suggesting there’s a conspiracy to make us sick. Well, this whole fiasco is rooted in a complete misunderstanding of the Food Compass scoring system that the graph was supposedly based on.
In this podcast episode, I spoke with Plant-Based Canada to clear up the confusion around this new scoring system by explaining how the scoring system was developed, how it’s meant to be used, and why this sort of misinformation spreads.
